That is so true; delusional, egocentric and fairly clever seems to be a thing women fancy... or at least we do, as far as I'm concerned. I seriously have a hard time choosing between these two, as they're both amazingly adorable characters.
Basil's smug grin can only mean he's on to something, and Dawson's lifted eyebrow means he's curious to know! Zooming in, I noticed you made his eyes blue. Interesting! The characters are both drawn beautifully and the colors nice and rich. Lovely job all around!
Yeah, I don't know, I never seem to be able to give characters just black eyes, unless there's a specific reason. I honestly think I'd give Basil ice-blue eyes too, so I probably should have gone with brown for Dawson and I might do that in the future. I, as a default-mode, just tend to match blond hair and blue eyes
I usually give them black if I'm going by Disney's standard toon style. But technically Basil's eyes are green. Well, they turned green when he's got that psycho look while saying they should set the trap off NOW!
Actually, I find that green is the default-colour Disney uses for their black-eyed characters, whenever they get an epiphany or gets a bit insane; Or at least that's what I've gathered from the few examples I've stumbled upon.
Exactly; Well, the best example I have os far are from the new Darkwing duck series, where the main-characters eyes are green whenever the eyes have a specific colour; there are other examples, but i don't remember. I'll keep an eye out.
This is so cute! It's kind of rare to see just the two of them together (could be just me ) and I love their poses. I also love the uniqueness of your style: it's Disney, but with your own style. Keep up the good work!
This is one of the best artworks I've seen of these two! I really love the flow in their poses, how you manage to make their personality visible through their actions! Also, the expressions are very stunningly done
Wow, thank you so much. I have to admit, I'm still not entirely pleased about Basils face, not because he doesn't look like the original toon 100%, but because he's lacking some... sleuth-vibes, of the like. Either way, I am proud of this piece and I am happy that people like it too
Actually, in the beginning I tried SO hard to copy the exact style of the movie, but once I let go and tried to push them into my style, rather than the other way around, I found that I could catch their 'essence' much easier, if that makes any sense. Anyhoo, thanks so much.
Hopefully yeah; My focus mainly have been Dawson and Basil, as I want to work more on them involved with my own OC, and Ratigan not so much (unless I accept the cartoons, in which he survives). But I definitely want to do some Ratigan-related stuff, because the man is brilliant.
