There will be NO dying today, young man! by TopHatTurtle There will be NO dying today, young man! by TopHatTurtle
:iconyaraffinity:'s Birdie is such an adorable OC, I had to draw her again; I don't think I'm going to work more on this, so I'll just upload it as the sketch it is.

I like the idea of Birdie being around such an elder and stable role-model as Edith Burke (my OC), who's such an excellent example of class and feminine grace...

Right...

I don't know what is going on here, but it probably has to doe with Dawson and Basil being incredibly irresponsible.

I really like this.  Mainly because your OC Edith is such a strong character!  You render her expressions so fluidly and her body language is very animated!  So essential in good character design!  I really like these sort of pencil drawing/sketches because they show so much!  I can see the fluidity of line and ideas here.  Thank you for sharing this!

Thank you so much for these - yeah, I'm a sucker for sketches. They're normally just so much more dynamic, and GOSH if I don't love love dynamic pieces.
I am also really happy to hear you liking Edith - I like Oc's in general, but I'm always scared of fucking my own up, so comments like these means the world to me.

Ohmygosh, that's just too adorable - the way Birdie is mimicing Edith.
She'd definitely do that. I mean, she's from the outskirts, living on a farm, and has no idea about how the higher class acts in the centre of London.
She'd sure pick Edith to observe how to act :XD:

The fact that you randomly drew my OC just made me a happy girl to the core
It really means a lot - even if it's only a sketch you drew!

I must say I admire how you can make movement and poses with only a few lines *_*

And considering that Edith has as much class as a snail, that is bound to end in disaster... Nooo, I kid, she knows her way around proper manners and such, it's just she spends more time in the desert surrounded by tribesmen and bedouins to actually really care too much about proper etiquette.

I'm glad it makes sense though. I'm still trying to get a proper feeling about Birdie, as I really love it when OC's and canons interacts with one another, and I want excuses for drawing them together again in the future.

Aww, I love Birdie. And Edith's face makes me lol. XDD I love her eyebrows.

If you're cursed with snails for eyebrows, you might as well get the best out of it.

She's so expressive as a character and she has her own little design. I mean, some GMD OCs look like Miss Kitty recolors and are paired with basil for some reason. Poor mouse. What I love about Edith is that she's her own character, based off of a real person (who was AWESOME by the way) and she's in no way romantically attached to any of the canon characters, but is still absolutely intriguing. ^^

I REALLY didn't want her to look just like some Miss Kitty-rip-off, so I'm so happy it was a success.
I'm really glad to read all of this; I REALLY want to avoid as much mary-sue-traits as possible. Especially the whole romantic involvement with the main-character.

I really want to sketch out her relationship with Basil, because it really isn't much more than a client-detective-relationship. She's supposed to be a very close friend of Dawson, but I think she can get away with that because... Well, it's Dawson and he isn't as much yearned for as Basil is ;P

She looks amazing and I love her. ^^

I had a character in love with Basil as an Adler character, but then I decided that it would be better if it was a mutual respect for one another. As for Ratigan, well, he has a housekeeper know who has a thing for him. And in an AU where he's the good guy, then he has a love interest, but they fight all the time.
